Summary

Menhaden fishing limits. Places an annual limit of 131,000 metric tons on the taking of menhaden by purse nets in the Chesapeake Bay. The Secretary of Natural Resources is to develop a system for monitoring the landings and issue a closure notice if 100 percent of the annual limit is met. The bill also prohibits vessels greater than 70 gross tons from setting nets after 5:00 p.m. on Friday or prior to 6:00 p.m. on Sunday, and between 8:00 a.m. and 6:00 p.m. on a holiday.   View Full Text »
