Summary

School records of missing children; local law-enforcement cooperation.  Enhances current procedures for notation in school records of missing children and local law-enforcement cooperation with the schools by mandating that, (i) within 24 hours of the missing child report, local law enforcement must notify the principal of the school where the missing child is or was most recently enrolled of the report so that the school can mark the student's record; and (ii) upon notification that the marked child's record has been requested, the Superintendent of State Police must immediately initiate an investigation into the circumstances surrounding the request.  Additionally, the bill defines the term "mark" as an electronic or other indicator that is readily apparent on the student's record.   View Full Text »
