Description

Education; calculation of high school graduation rates. Directs the Board of Education to collect, analyze, and report high school graduation and drop out data using a formula prescribed by the Board. The measure contains a delayed enactment clause providing that the amendments to 22.1-253.13:4 will take effect October 1, 2008. A second enactment clause, which will take effect on July 1, 2006, requires the Board of Education to report to the House Committee on Education and the Senate Committee on Education and Health by December 1, 2006, on the formula to be used for the uniform assessment of high school graduation rates. In developing the formula, the Board is also required to consider the 2005 Report of the National Governors Association Task Force on State High School Graduation Data. Read the Bill »
