Description

Regulation of the fishing of menhaden. Directs the Virginia Marine Resources Commission to adopt regulations to implement the Atlantic States Marine Fisheries Commission Fishery Management Plan for Atlantic Menhaden. The bill stipulates that no regulation can impose limits on the fishing of menhaden that are more restrictive than the Atlantic States Marine Fisheries Commission Fishery Management Plan for Atlantic Menhaden. The bill also requires that any moratorium on the fishery be subject to legislative review and repeals the Governors authority to implement menhaden management measures by proclamation. Amends § 28.2-409, § 28.2-410, of the Code of Virginia. View Full Text »
