WHEREAS, Thomas Brown Hawkins of Belfast, Virginia, respected citizen and retired employee of Eastern Isles Corporation of Richlands, died on January 24, 2006; and

WHEREAS, Thomas “Tommy” Hawkins graduated from Richlands High School in 1953, earned a degree from Bluefield College and attended Concord College, and honorably served his country in the United States Air Force; and

WHEREAS, committed to helping his community, Tommy Hawkins was a dedicated and active member of Cedar Bluff Lodge No. 260 AF & AM and the Richlands Order of the Eastern Star Chapter 104; and

WHEREAS, concerned with the well-being of citizens in need, Tommy Hawkins generously gave his time and talents as a member of the Kazim Temple and Scottish Rite of Roanoke; and

WHEREAS, always ready to help his fellow residents, Tommy Hawkins will be fondly remembered for his devotion to his community of Belfast; and

WHEREAS, Tommy Hawkins will be missed by his wife and family and his numerous friends and colleagues; now, therefore, be it

RESOLVED by the House of Delegates, the Senate concurring, That the General Assembly mourn the passing of a fine Virginia gentleman, Thomas Brown Hawkins; and, be it

RESOLVED FURTHER, That the Clerk of the House of Delegates prepare a copy of this resolution for presentation to the family of Thomas Brown Hawkins as an expression of the General Assembly’s respect for his memory.
