WHEREAS, Amber Brooke Copley was crowned Miss Virginia USA at Virginia Intermont College on November 12, 2005; and

WHEREAS, Amber Copley previously achieved the honor of being Miss Teen Virginia 2003; and

WHEREAS, a published poet, Amber Copley was born in Abingdon, Virginia, in 1985; graduated from Abingdon High School in 2003; attended the University of Virginia at Wise; and is now a junior at Virginia Tech majoring in communications; and

WHEREAS, an accomplished public speaker, Amber Copley will travel the state to educate Virginians on life skills and increase awareness of breast cancer; and

WHEREAS, Amber Copley aspires to be an actress and model, and drama productions are her passion; she has pursued these goals by developing a healthy body and healthy mind; and

WHEREAS, a young woman of exceptional talent and dedication, Amber Brooke Copley is well qualified to represent the Commonwealth as Miss Virginia USA 2006; now, therefore, be it

RESOLVED by the House of Delegates, the Senate concurring, That the General Assembly hereby commend Amber Brooke Copley on being named Miss Virginia USA 2006; and, be it

RESOLVED FURTHER, That the Clerk of the House of Delegates prepare a copy of this resolution for presentation to Amber Brooke Copley as an expression of the General Assembly's congratulations and best wishes for her reign as Miss Virginia USA 2006.
