WHEREAS, Reston Interfaith, Inc., and the Greater Reston Chamber of Commerce honored B.J. and Marilyn Silvey with the Best of Reston award; and

WHEREAS, the 15th annual Best of Reston awards gala will be held on April 20, 2006, when the coveted awards will be presented to "businesses, individuals, and organizations that have gone above and beyond in their service to improving the quality of life of those in the Reston community"; and

WHEREAS, two of this year's distinguished honorees are B.J. and Marilyn Silvey, who are diligent and extraordinary volunteers for a host of Reston community programs and activities; and

WHEREAS, B.J. and Marilyn Silvey are retired, but their commitment and tireless efforts to help citizens in need in the Reston area have become a full-time passion; and

WHEREAS, B.J. and Marilyn Silvey give generously of their time and immense talents to the United Christian Parish Church Works Sunday program and the Forest Edge School mentoring program for at-risk girls and as the organizers of the annual Girl's Science and Math program at Dogwood Elementary—through Reston Interfaith and the Wheelchair Foundation, and with the help of the Reston bicycle club, the Reston Triathlon, and the Friends of the Washington and Old Dominion Trail; and

WHEREAS, B.J. and Marilyn Silvey are outstanding and inspirational role models for volunteers in Reston and across the Commonwealth; now, therefore, be it

RESOLVED by the House of Delegates, the Senate concurring, That the General Assembly hereby commend B.J. and Marilyn Silvey for their valuable service to the citizens of Northern Virginia and congratulate them on their 2006 Best of Reston award; and, be it

RESOLVED FURTHER, That the Clerk of the House of Delegates prepare a copy of this resolution for presentation to B.J. and Marilyn Silvey as an expression of the General Assembly's gratitude for their commitment to volunteerism.
