HJ400: Commending Northrop Grumman's Information Technology and Mission Systems sectors.
WHEREAS, Reston Interfaith, Inc., and the Greater Reston Chamber of Commerce honored Northrop Grumman's Information Technology and Mission Systems sectors with the Best of Reston award; and
WHEREAS, the 15th annual Best of Reston awards gala will be held on April 20, 2006, when the coveted awards will be presented to "businesses, individuals, and organizations that have gone above and beyond in their service to improving the quality of life of those in the Reston community"; and
WHEREAS, among this year's distinguished honorees are the Information Technology sector and the Mission Systems sector of Northrop Grumman; and
WHEREAS, since 2000, both Northrop Grumman sectors have become actively involved in more than 30 community organizations in the Reston area, including the Greater Reston Arts Center, the Langston Hughes Middle School, the Arts Council of Fairfax County, the George Mason University Foundation, the Fairfax Education Foundation, Volunteer Fairfax, and numerous other schools and educational programs; and
WHEREAS, the outstanding employees of Northrop Grumman's Information Technology and Mission Systems sectors have contributed $53,000, in the last year alone, to 21 area nonprofit entities; and
WHEREAS, the Northrop Grumman Information Technology and Mission Systems sectors’ employees generously donated funds for Hurricane Katrina relief and the USO; and
WHEREAS, Northrop Grumman's Information Technology and Mission Systems sectors are outstanding and inspirational role models for corporate volunteerism and community involvement in Reston and across the Commonwealth; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED by the House of Delegates, the Senate concurring, That the General Assembly hereby commend Northrop Grumman's Information Technology and Mission Systems sectors for their valuable service to the citizens of Northern Virginia and congratulate both sectors on their 2006 Best of Reston award; and, be it
RESOLVED FURTHER, That the Clerk of the House of Delegates prepare a copy of this resolution for presentation to Northrop Grumman's Information Technology and Mission Systems sectors as an expression of the General Assembly's gratitude for their commitment to volunteerism.
