WHEREAS, the Landstown High School Eagles football team capped a successful 2005 season by advancing to the Virginia High School League Group AAA, Division 6 state championship game; and

WHEREAS, the 2005 Eagles proved worthy successors to the 2004 Landstown High School football team, which captured the state title; and

WHEREAS, competing in the highly competitive Beach District, the 2005 Eagles compiled a perfect regular season record of 10-0 in capturing the Beach District and Eastern Regional championships; and

WHEREAS, in the playoffs, the Landstown Eagles defeated Floyd E. Kellam High School, 34-14, and C. D. Hylton High School, 25-14, to reach the state final game for the second consecutive year; and

WHEREAS, Head Coach Chris Beatty and his assistants provide the expertise and leadership that result in the consistent success of the Landstown Eagles football program; now, therefore, be it

RESOLVED by the House of Delegates, the Senate concurring, That the General Assembly commend the Landstown High School football team on its exceptional 2005 season; and, be it

RESOLVED FURTHER, That the Clerk of the House of Delegates prepare a copy of this resolution for presentation to Head Coach Chris Beatty in honor of the outstanding success of the 2005 Landstown Eagles football team.
