WHEREAS, Mickey R. Thompson, head coach of the Stone Bridge High School Bulldogs, was recognized as the 2005 All-Gameday Coach of the Year for the fourth consecutive year by TCC Sports; and

WHEREAS, Mickey Thompson earned the honor again for taking his young Bulldog team to the Virginia High School League football state championship against Hampton; and

WHEREAS, Stone Bridge High School of Ashburn, Virginia, also won the Liberty District and the Northern Region championship at the Group AAA level; and

WHEREAS, Mickey Thompson, a local graduate of Broad Run High School, was awarded a football scholarship to the University of Virginia; and

WHEREAS, after graduating with a master’s degree from George Mason University, Mickey Thompson settled in Loudoun County and has served as a public school educator and exemplary coach for over 20 years; and

WHEREAS, a dedicated citizen of the Loudoun community and a superb mentor and role model for young people, Mickey Thompson has volunteered his time and immense talent to coaching youth sports; and

WHEREAS, Mickey Thompson, as the football coach at Park View High School, won three district and two regional titles and repeated this notable feat as the football coach at Stone Bridge High School, winning three district and three regional titles; and

WHEREAS, Mickey Thompson has motivated and inspired young athletes to strive to achieve their full potential in sports, in academics, and in life; now, therefore, be it

RESOLVED by the House of Delegates, the Senate concurring, That the General Assembly hereby commend Mickey R. Thompson for his exceptional leadership, commitment to excellence, and his outstanding contributions to the youth of Loudoun County; and, be it

RESOLVED FURTHER, That the Clerk of the House of Delegates prepare a copy of this resolution for presentation to Mickey R. Thompson as an expression of the General Assembly’s appreciation for his many years of exceptional service to the citizens of Loudoun County.
