WHEREAS, Elizabeth Korte, a teacher at Stone Bridge High School, is the distinguished recipient of the 2006 Agnes Meyer Outstanding Teacher Award; and

WHEREAS, Elizabeth “Betty” Korte graduated from Benedictine College in Kansas with a bachelor's degree in mathematics and received a master’s degree in science with an emphasis on teaching from Shenandoah University; and

WHEREAS, Betty Korte completed professional development courses at the University of Rochester, the University of Dayton, the University of Virginia, Virginia Tech, George Mason University, and George Washington University; and

WHEREAS, a resident of Loudoun County, Betty Korte has served as a public school teacher since 1993; and

WHEREAS, Betty Korte is a two-time recipient, in 1992 and again in 1994, of the Governor’s Award for Volunteering Excellence; and

WHEREAS, at Park View High School, Betty Korte was the math department chair for seven years, and since 2000, has served as math department chair at Stone Bridge High School; and

WHEREAS, Betty Korte’s tenacity and great passion make her a highly successful teacher and an inspiration to her students; and

WHEREAS, Betty Korte is an exemplary educator and committed to providing excellence in education for all of the students of Loudoun County; now, therefore, be it

RESOLVED by the House of Delegates, the Senate concurring, That the General Assembly hereby commend and congratulate Elizabeth Korte as a recipient of the 2006 Agnes Meyer Outstanding Teacher Award; and, be it

RESOLVED FURTHER, That the Clerk of the House of Delegates prepare a copy of this resolution for presentation to Elizabeth Korte as an expression of the General Assembly’s appreciation for her many years of exceptional service to the young people and the citizens of Loudoun County.
