WHEREAS, the Culpeper County High School Band of the Culpeper County Public School System is recognized as a Virginia Honor Band for 2005-2006; and

WHEREAS, the Virginia Honor Band designation is the highest award that a high school band may receive in the Commonwealth; and

WHEREAS, during the 2005-2006 school year, only 50 bands out of 296 high schools were acclaimed as Virginia Honor Bands; and

WHEREAS, in order to be a Virginia Honor Band, the Culpeper County High School Band received a superior rating at Virginia Band and Orchestra Directors Association state festival events; and

WHEREAS, the Culpeper County High School Band, which is a District XIII band, excelled in both the State Marching Festival held in October 2005 and the State Concert Festival in March 2006, both in Charlottesville; and

WHEREAS, the exemplary Culpeper County High School Band was honored with  a rating of excellent in the Single A Division at the 22nd North Stafford Marching Band Invitational state competition and received 2nd place auxiliary, 2nd place marching, 2nd place for general effect, 1st place percussion, and 2nd place band awards in the prestigious event; and

WHEREAS, the Culpeper County High School Band was a superior entry in the Charlottesville Marching Band Competition in October 2005 and received an overall rating of superior in the Single A Division and received 1st place drum major, 1st place marching, 1st place general effect, 1st place auxiliary, 1st place music, and 1st place band awards; and

WHEREAS, the success of the Culpeper County High School Band program is due to the tremendous efforts of band director Duane Clore and assistant director Adam Roach; the enthusiastic and talented members of the Culpeper County High School Band; and the enthusiastic support of family members, staff and teachers, and the Culpeper County community; now, therefore, be it

RESOLVED by the House of Delegates, the Senate concurring, That the General Assembly commend and congratulate the Culpeper County High School Band on an outstanding competition season; and, be it

RESOLVED FURTHER, That the Clerk of the House of Delegates prepare a copy of this resolution for presentation to Culpeper County High School band director Duane Clore and all of the talented members of the school band as an expression of the General Assembly’s appreciation for their dedication to excellence and their many outstanding performances in 2005-2006.
