WHEREAS, Lou Anne Nabhan received the Thomas Jefferson Award for Excellence in Public Relations for her outstanding leadership and career achievements; and

WHEREAS, the award is sponsored by the Richmond chapter of the Public Relations Society of America (PRSA), which honored Lou Anne Nabhan and the region’s best public relations campaigns during a gala awards banquet in Richmond on June 7, 2006; and

WHEREAS, the Thomas Jefferson Award is the PRSA’s most prestigious award for extraordinary accomplishments in public relations; and

WHEREAS, Lou Anne Nabhan is the outstanding vice president and director of corporate communications at Media General, Inc.; and

WHEREAS, in 2000 Lou Anne Nabhan joined Media General, which publishes the Richmond Times-Dispatch and owns television stations, interactive media, and part of a news print business; and

WHEREAS, before coming to Media General, Lou Anne Nabhan was a communications executive at Reynolds Metals Company; and

WHEREAS, in 1987 Lou Anne Nabhan served as president of PRSA’s Old Dominion Chapter and is a longtime member of the board of trustees of the Richmond Ballet; and

WHEREAS, Lou Anne Nabhan is a deserving recipient of the Thomas Jefferson Award, an honor especially prized because it is awarded by her peers in the public relations industry; now, therefore, be it

RESOLVED by the House of Delegates, the Senate concurring, That the General Assembly commend Lou Anne Nabhan as the recipient of the coveted Thomas Jefferson Award for Excellence in Public Relations; and, be it

RESOLVED FURTHER, That the Clerk of the House of Delegates prepare a copy of this resolution for presentation to Lou Anne Nabhan as an expression of the General Assembly’s appreciation of her exemplary career and outstanding service.
