Celebrating the life of Goodwin Page Sanford, Jr.

WHEREAS, Goodwin Page Sanford, Jr., a respected community leader and native of Westmoreland County, died on September 8, 2006; and

WHEREAS, committed to improving the quality of life of his fellow citizens, Page Sanford served as a member of the Montross Town Council since July 1, 1990; and

WHEREAS, an enthusiastic community supporter, Page Sanford was instrumental in the planning of the Montross Fall Festival since 1994 and was active in many civic organizations and activities; and

WHEREAS, besides his prominent leadership role in the Town of Montross, Page Sanford was a dedicated employee of the Northern Neck Electric Cooperative for over 25 years; and

WHEREAS, Page Sanford will be fondly remembered as a pleasant and unpretentious man, who was concerned about the welfare of his neighbors and enjoyed carving wood decoys and riding his Harley-Davidson motorcycle; and

WHEREAS, Page Sanford will be greatly missed by his devoted wife, Patricia, and son, Christopher; numerous other loving family members; the congregation of Saint Paul’s Episcopal Church; and the citizens of Westmoreland County; now, therefore, be it

RESOLVED by the House of Delegates, the Senate concurring, That the General Assembly mourn the passing of a fine community advocate and outstanding Virginian, Goodwin Page Sanford, Jr.; and, be it

RESOLVED FURTHER, That the Clerk of the House of Delegates prepare a copy of this resolution for presentation to the family of Goodwin Page Sanford, Jr., as an expression of the General Assembly’s respect for his memory.
