WHEREAS, Linwood Wright, an outstanding public servant and retired Dan River, Inc., executive, was named the Danville Kiwanis Club 2005 Citizen of the Year; and

WHEREAS, Linwood Wright received the distinguished award at a celebratory banquet held at the Danville Golf Club on December 1, 2005; and

WHEREAS, an experienced and visionary leader, Linwood Wright has made valuable contributions to the continuing growth and prosperity of the City of Danville; and

WHEREAS, Linwood Wright has served as the president of the Danville Museum of Fine Arts and History, the Kiwanis Club, and the Danville Concert Association; and

WHEREAS, as an effective and experienced city councilman and former mayor,  Linwood Wright is dedicated to improving the quality of life for all of the citizens of Danville; and

WHEREAS, committed to the well-being of his fellow residents, Linwood Wright served on the Danville Regional Health Foundation and helped establish the Future of the Piedmont Foundation and the Institute of Advanced Learning and Research; and

WHEREAS, a great supporter of families and a believer in the importance of strong family values for the success and stability of the community, Linwood Wright feels indebted to his devoted wife, Peggy, and his two sons, Phillip and Nelson, for their support and encouragement; now, therefore, be it

RESOLVED by the House of Delegates, the Senate concurring, That the General Assembly commend Linwood Wright for his well-deserved recognition as the Danville Kiwanis Club 2005 Citizen of the Year; and, be it

RESOLVED FURTHER, That the Clerk of the House of Delegates prepare a copy of this resolution for presentation to Linwood Wright as an expression of the General Assembly’s appreciation for his many accomplishments and gratitude for his commitment to the citizens of the City of Danville.
