WHEREAS, James "J.J." Staples was born in Patrick County on September 23, 1952, and died on December 16, 2005; and

WHEREAS, James Staples was a graduate of Patrick County High School and attended Patrick Henry Community College; and

WHEREAS, a long-time dedicated public servant, James Staples served the Stuart Volunteer Fire Department as a volunteer firefighter and administrative secretary, and he received the Department's Lifetime Membership Award in December 2005; and

WHEREAS, James Staples was active in other community organizations, including the Patrick County Jaycees, the Stuart Lions Club, and the Patrick County Chamber of Commerce; and

WHEREAS, James Staples served on the Stuart Town Council and retired from Stuart Flooring; now, therefore, be it

RESOLVED, That the House of Delegates hereby note with great sadness the loss of a fine Virginian with a generous spirit, James Staples; and, be it

RESOLVED FURTHER, That the Clerk of the House of Delegates prepare a copy of this resolution for presentation to the family of James Staples as an expression of the high regard in which his memory is held by the House of Delegates.
