WHEREAS, Caleb Pearson, a celebrated varsity point guard at Southampton Academy, is recognized for surpassing the 1,000-point mark in his high school basketball career during a game on February 7, 2006; and

WHEREAS, Caleb Pearson enjoys the great support of fellow players and students at Southampton Academy, and to the delight of local basketball fans, his 1000-point feat is the first time in nearly 25 years that such a record has been accomplished in school history; and

WHEREAS, a junior at the private school in Courtland,  Caleb Pearson is averaging 20.4 points, 4.8 assists, and 4.8 steals per game; and

WHEREAS, Head Coach Brian Trickler describes Caleb Pearson as not only a gifted athlete, but also a dedicated, hard-working, and  highly motivated team player; and

WHEREAS, Caleb Pearson attributes a lot of his basketball success to his trainer, Stephanie Wood, who is also the girls' varsity basketball coach, and to the support of his parents and his two brothers, Christian and Clay; and

WHEREAS, honored on February 14, 2006, during a school recognition night for athletes, Caleb Pearson received a basketball for his special achievement; now, therefore, be it

RESOLVED by the House of Delegates, That Caleb Pearson hereby be commended and congratulated for surpassing the 1000-point mark in his high school basketball career; and, be it

RESOLVED FURTHER, That the Clerk of the House of Delegates prepare a copy of this resolution for presentation to Caleb Pearson as an expression of the House of Delegates’ appreciation of his athletic talents and best wishes for continued success in the future.
