Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Virginia:

1.  § 1. Special license plates for parents, spouses, and children of certain deceased military veterans.

On receipt of an application and written evidence that the applicant is a parent, spouse, or child of a military veteran who was killed while on active duty and engaged in performance of his official duties, the Commissioner of the Department of Motor Vehicles shall issue special license plates to the applicant.  No more than one set of license plates shall be issued to any applicant. No fee shall be charged for the issuance of these license plates. The provisions of § 46.2-725 of the Code of Virginia shall not apply to these license plates. These license plates shall not bear reserved numbers or letters as authorized in § 46.2-726 of the Code of Virginia.
