Summary

Campaign finance; special disclosure requirements for certain committees; civil penalties. Requires federal and IRS 527 committees contributing more than $10,000 to candidates in Virginia to register with the State Board of Elections. Information on contributors to federal committees will be made available by the Board through a link to filings at the Federal Election Commission. Information on contributors of $2,500 or more to 527 committees will be filed with the State Board and available to the public. Candidates accepting more than $10,000 from a committee must verify that the committee has registered with the State Board. Civil penalties are imposed for accepting or making contributions in violation of the act. This bill incorporates SB 628 and is identical to HB 291.   View Full Text »
