Description
Remediation programs. Amends the standards for remediation programs to require that data submitted to the Board of Education include the number of students failing any Standards of Learning assessments for grades three through eight. This bill also provides that students who fail the Standards of Learning assessments in grades three through eight, in addition to other factors that the division superintendent may use to determine the student's need for remediation, must attend summer school or after-school remediation programs. There are several technical amendments. Amends § 22.1-199.2 (“Standards for remediation programs established.”), § 22.1-254.01 (“Certain students required to attend summer school or after-school sessions.”), of the Code of Virginia.
