Commending the Mathews Memorial Library.

WHEREAS, First Lady Laura Bush and the Institute of Museum and Library Services honored the Mathews Memorial Library by presenting it with the 2005 National Award for Museum and Library Service, the highest honor the nation confers upon such institutions; and

WHEREAS, the mission of the Mathews Memorial Library is to provide the highest quality library services so as to fulfill the informational, educational, recreational, and cultural needs of the citizens of Mathews County; and

WHEREAS, the Mathews Memorial Library serves over half of the current population of Mathews County; and

WHEREAS, the Mathews Memorial Library partners with schools, daycare centers, and senior centers in hopes of fostering a love of reading in all of the citizens of Mathews County; and

WHEREAS, inclusive with those services generally provided by libraries, the Mathews Memorial Library also offers computer classes, music appreciation and reading programs, genealogy information, and resources for small businesses; now, therefore, be it

RESOLVED by the Senate, the House of Delegates concurring, That the General Assembly hereby commend the Mathews Memorial Library for its valuable service and dedication to the citizens of Mathews County; and, be it

RESOLVED FURTHER, That the Clerk of the Senate prepare a copy of this resolution for presentation to the Mathews Memorial Library as an expression of the General Assembly's gratitude for these services and best wishes for future success in its mission.
