WHEREAS, Dr. Frank S. Turnage, the respected president of Germanna Community College, is recognized for his extraordinary contributions in support of the college's mission and the well-being and education of its student body; and

WHEREAS, Dr. Turnage earned a bachelor's degree from Duke University, a master's degree from the University of North Carolina, and a doctorate in education from the University of Virginia; and

WHEREAS, Dr. Turnage, through his advocacy and active involvement in the community, has been invaluable in the growth and improvement of services and programs offered by Germanna Community College; and

WHEREAS, an outstanding educator and visionary leader, Dr. Turnage has enthusiastically served in higher education for 42 years and in the Virginia Community College system for 39 years; and

WHEREAS, since joining the college in November 1986, Dr. Turnage has been the distinguished public face of Germanna Community College as its president, articulate spokesperson, and greatest supporter; and

WHEREAS, during his prestigious 20-year career with the college, Dr. Turnage has guided Germanna Community College from a small, remote community college to an influential educational force in the region by providing workforce development and the opportunity of higher education to all of the residents of the community; and

WHEREAS, Germanna Community College has grown tremendously under Dr. Turnage's leadership, and he has been a positive force in the community college system in the Commonwealth; and

WHEREAS, Dr. Turnage is held in the highest esteem by his colleagues and students alike for his integrity, ethics, accessibility, as well as his great dedication to Germanna Community College; now, therefore, be it

RESOLVED by the Senate, the House of Delegates concurring, That the General Assembly hereby commend Dr. Frank S. Turnage for his outstanding service to the students of Germanna Community College; and, be it

RESOLVED FURTHER, That the Clerk of the Senate prepare a copy of this resolution for presentation to Dr. Frank S. Turnage for his commitment to higher education for all of the citizens of the Commonwealth.
