WHEREAS, Dorothy Jeanette Crouch Moore, Administrator of Support Services for the Senate of Virginia, retired on January 1, 2006, after 37 years of outstanding service to the Commonwealth of Virginia; and

WHEREAS, Jeanette Moore was born and spent her childhood in Richmond, graduating from Manchester High School; and

WHEREAS, after working from 1961 to 1962 as secretary to the director of the accounting department at Cliff Weil, Inc., Jeanette Moore began her career with the Commonwealth of Virginia; and

WHEREAS, in 1962, Jeanette Moore joined the Department of Agriculture and Commerce as secretary to the director of the Market News Section; and

WHEREAS, Jeanette Moore worked from 1966 to 1970 in the Commissioner’s Office of the Department of Agriculture and Commerce; and

WHEREAS, Jeanette Moore was employed by the Office of Governor A. Linwood Holton from 1970 to 1974 as secretary to the senior executive assistant to the governor; and

WHEREAS, Jeanette Moore continued her commendable service to the Commonwealth as secretary to the senior executive assistant to Governor Mills E. Godwin, Jr. from 1974 to 1978; and

WHEREAS, from 1984 to 1988, Jeanette Moore served diligently as a secretary during the General Assembly sessions, working for various members, including Senator James P. Jones; Senator William F. Parkerson, Jr., President pro tempore; and Senator Hunter B. Andrews, Majority Leader; and

WHEREAS, during 1988, Jeanette Moore demonstrated her superior organizational skills serving as a staff assistant in the Constituent Affairs Section of the Office of Governor Gerald L. Baliles; and

WHEREAS, Jeanette Moore was employed in the Senate Clerk’s Office from 1988 to 2006, where she performed her duties in an outstanding manner as purchasing officer and later as the administrator of support services; and

WHEREAS, Jeanette Moore is the faithful wife of James A. Moore, the loving mother of two sons, and the proud grandmother of two granddaughters and four grandsons; and

WHEREAS, Jeanette Moore’s warmth, compassion, and sense of humor have won her the respect and love of her colleagues, family, and all with whom she comes in contact; and

WHEREAS, Jeanette Moore’s exemplary and dedicated service as a state and Senate employee sets a high standard for her colleagues; now, therefore, be it

RESOLVED by the Senate, That Dorothy Jeanette Crouch Moore hereby be commended for her many years of service to the citizens of the Commonwealth; and, be it

RESOLVED FURTHER, That the Clerk of the Senate prepare a copy of this resolution for presentation to Dorothy Jeanette Crouch Moore as an expression of the Senate’s gratitude, as a token of her colleagues’ high esteem, and as a tribute to her years of service and dedication to the Commonwealth of Virginia.
