HB1818: Safety inspection requirements; exemptions for vehicles owned by military service members, etc.
Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Virginia:
1. That the Code of Virginia is amended by adding a section numbered 46.2-1158.2 as follows:
§ 46.2-1158.2. Certain vehicles exempt from provisions of article; display of safety inspection approval sticker not required.
Nothing in this article shall be construed to require periodic safety inspections of any vehicle registered in the Commonwealth if that vehicle is either (i) owned in full by an active duty military service member, activated reservist, or temporarily mobilized reserve or national guard member stationed or living outside Virginia or (ii) jointly owned by an active duty military service member, activated reservist, or temporarily mobilized reserve or national guard member stationed or living outside Virginia and a dependent. Nor shall any provision of this article be construed as requiring any such vehicle to display a safety inspection approval sticker.
