Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Virginia:

1. That the Code of Virginia is amended by adding in Article 6 of Chapter 29 of Title 54.1 a section numbered 54.1-2973.1 as follows:

§ 54.1-2973.1. Authority to receive laboratory results directly.

A licensed physician who orders a laboratory test of any person may request, in writing, that a copy of the report of the results of the test be provided by the laboratory directly to the subject of the test. The subject of the test shall then be considered authorized to receive the report for the purposes of the federal Clinical Laboratory Improvement Amendments.
