Summary

Concealed handgun permits; retired law-enforcement officers.  Provides that proof of consultation and favorable review to carry a concealed handgun or the issuance of a concealed handgun permit to a retired law-enforcement officer in the Commonwealth shall be deemed to meet the standards of the Commonwealth to carry a concealed handgun. The federal Law Enforcement Officers Safety Act requires that, in order to carry a concealed handgun pursuant to the Act, a retired law-enforcement officer be found by the state to meet the standards established by the state. A retired law-enforcement officer is also required to carry a photo identification issued pursuant to § 9.1-1000 in order to carry a concealed weapon under the federal Act.
