HB2423: Criminal juror; information confidential.
Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Virginia:
1. That the Code of Virginia is amended by adding a section numbered 19.2-263.3 as follows:
§ 19.2-263.3. Juror information confidential.
Any personal information concerning a member of a jury in a criminal trial shall be sealed by the court at the conclusioin of the trial and shall be released only upon motion for good cause shown, with restrictions upon its use and further dissemination as may be deemed appropriate by the court.
"Personal information" means any information collected by the court, clerk, or jury commissioners at any time about a person who is selected to sit on a criminal jury and includes but is not limited to name, age, occupation, home and work addresses, telephone numbers, e-mail addresses, and any other identifying information that would assist another in locating or contacting the person.
