Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Virginia:

1. That the Code of Virginia is amended by adding a section numbered 19.2-164.01 as follows:

§ 19.2-164.01. Local fee for interpreters for non-English speaking persons.

Any locality may provide by ordinance for the imposition of a fee on any person convicted of a violation of any criminal statute or ordinance if such person was provided an interpreter for non-English speaking persons paid for by the locality. The fee shall be added to the costs in the case.
