WHEREAS, Barbara R. Aaron of Reston, a respected citizen, an outstanding community leader, and a dedicated volunteer, died on December 12, 2006; and

WHEREAS, a native of Washington, D.C., Barbara Aaron graduated from Duke University with a degree in economics and spent much of her career working in real estate; and

WHEREAS, over the years, Barbara Aaron worked for Long and Foster Real Estate in Reston, Coldwell Banker Residential Brokerage, and Chimney House Realtors and served as chair of several committees for the Northern Virginia Association of Realtors; and

WHEREAS, Barbara Aaron was devoted to her beloved community of Reston and served on numerous civic and nonprofit organizations, including the Greater Reston Chamber of Commerce and the Greater Reston Arts Center; she was a founding board member and gala fundraiser of the Reston YMCA; and

WHEREAS, since 1992, Barbara Aaron worked diligently as the Hunters Woods/Dogwood District representative on the board of directors of the Reston Association; and

WHEREAS, an energetic and tireless volunteer, Barbara Aaron also was a member of the Reston Association Covenants Committee, Legal Committee, Communications Advisory Committee and Board Administration Committee, as well as the chair of the Headquarters Search Committee; and

WHEREAS, Barbara Aaron was a knowledgeable and effective civic leader, and her real estate expertise was invaluable to the work of the Reston Association; and

WHEREAS, in all of her pursuits, Barbara Aaron had a way of making daunting tasks appear simple, and she was always in search of a new and better way of doing things; and

WHEREAS, Barbara Aaron will be fondly remembered for her exuberance and love of her family and will be greatly missed by her husband, John, her two daughters, Anne and Jennifer, a sister, and two wonderful grandchildren and numerous loving friends and admirers; now, therefore, be it

RESOLVED by the House of Delegates, the Senate concurring, That the General Assembly mourn the passing of a generous public servant and outstanding Virginian, Barbara R. Aaron; and, be it

RESOLVED FURTHER, That the Clerk of the House of Delegates prepare a copy of this resolution for presentation to the family of Barbara R. Aaron as an expression of the General Assembly’s respect for her memory.
