HJ803: Commending Virginia T. Duncan.
WHEREAS, Virginia T. Duncan, who retired December 31, 2006, is recognized for her exemplary service to the citizens of Prince George County and the Commonwealth for over 37 years; and
WHEREAS, Virginia Duncan joined Prince George County on January 1, 1969, and for the first 15 years of her exceptional career served as both tax examiner and deputy commissioner of the revenue; and
WHEREAS, an able administrator with vast experience, Virginia Duncan became commissioner of the revenue for Prince George County on January 1, 1984, a post she held with distinction for 22 years until her retirement in 2006; and
WHEREAS, during her years of outstanding service as commissioner, Virginia Duncan assisted countless Prince George County residents with their state tax returns, as well as helped qualified individuals in obtaining tax relief; and
WHEREAS, committed to improving the quality of life of her fellow citizens, Virginia Duncan has remained active in her community and participates in numerous civic organizations, including the Prince George Women’s Club; and
WHEREAS, Virginia Duncan is a faithful member of the Bethlehem Congregational Church and contributes to the church's many missions in the community; and
WHEREAS, Virginia Duncan has been an invaluable asset to the administration of Prince George County government, is dedicated to the future of her community, and committed to the well-being of all of its citizens; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED by the House of Delegates, the Senate concurring, That the General Assembly hereby commend and congratulate Virginia T. Duncan for her longtime public service to the citizens of Prince George County; and, be it
RESOLVED FURTHER, That the Clerk of the House of Delegates prepare a copy of this resolution for presentation to Virginia T. Duncan as an expression of the General Assembly's gratitude for her many contributions and best wishes for a rewarding and fulfilling retirement.
