WHEREAS, the Chantilly High School football team won the Virginia High School League Group AAA, Division 6 Northern Region finals on November 25, 2006, by defeating Westfield High School, 26-21; and

WHEREAS, after winning the Northern Region finals, the Chantilly High School Chargers went on to beat Varina High School 17-7 in the state semifinals to advance to the state championship game against Osbourn High School; and

WHEREAS, while the Chargers lost the championship game, they played with grit and determination as they had all season, a season in which nine of their games were decided by 10 points or fewer and they finished with a 10-4 record, two years after not having won a single game; and

WHEREAS, the 2006 Chargers had many standout players, including defensive end Zach Hally, named to the All-Met First Team, and offensive lineman Patrick Madaj, tight end Danny Simms, and defensive back Austin Morris, all of whom received All-Met Honorable Mentions; and

WHEREAS, the strong performance of the 2006 Chantilly High School Chargers is a tribute to the talent, dedication, and perseverance of the players; the leadership of Head Coach Mike Lalli and his staff; and the support of the students, faculty, and parents of Chantilly High School; now, therefore, be it

RESOLVED by the House of Delegates, the Senate concurring, That the General Assembly hereby commend and congratulate the Chantilly High School football team on its very successful 2006 season; and, be it

RESOLVED FURTHER, That the Clerk of the House of Delegates prepare a copy of this resolution for presentation to Head Coach Mike Lalli as an expression of the General Assembly's admiration for the outstanding performance of the 2006 Chantilly Chargers.
