Commending the Cave Spring High School girls' volleyball team.

WHEREAS, the Cave Spring High School girls' volleyball team won the Virginia High School League Group AA state championship on November 18, 2006, by defeating Loudoun County High School; and

WHEREAS, the Cave Spring Knights continued their dominance in volleyball, securing their fourth state title in five years with a decisive 3-0 win over Loudoun County; and

WHEREAS, the Knights faced a tough semifinal matchup against Grafton High School but were able to pull off a 3-2 win to advance to the championship match; and

WHEREAS, never resting on their laurels, the Knights worked hard all season to diversify their offense and play a more up-tempo game in order to have another shot at the state title; and

WHEREAS, although they will lose some key seniors with the graduation of Jennifer Harvey, River Ridge District Player of the Year, Maggie Wagner, and Katherine Jetton, the Cave Spring Knights are already reloading with talent for the 2007 campaign; and

WHEREAS, the outstanding performance of the 2006 Cave Spring Knights is a tribute to the talent, dedication, and determination of the players; the leadership of Coach Tamalyn Tanis and her staff; and the support of the students, faculty, and parents of Cave Spring High School and the Roanoke County community; now, therefore, be it

RESOLVED by the House of Delegates, the Senate concurring, That the General Assembly hereby commend and congratulate the Cave Spring High School girls' volleyball team on its state championship; and, be it

RESOLVED FURTHER, That the Clerk of the House of Delegates prepare a copy of this resolution for presentation to Coach Tamalyn Tanis as an expression of the General Assembly's admiration for the Cave Spring Knights' stellar 2006 season.
