HJ929: Commending Lucy Clark.
WHEREAS, Lucy Clark, Commissioner of the Revenue and outstanding Henry County public servant for 55 years, will retire in 2007; and
WHEREAS, Lucy Clark came to work for the Office of the Commissioner of the Revenue for Henry County in 1952; and
WHEREAS, a hard-working and dedicated public servant, Lucy Clark soon became a deputy commissioner, and in 1955, was appointed to the position of commissioner, where her fellow citizens have greatly benefited from her enthusiasm and vast experience; and
WHEREAS, Lucy Clark has made numerous contributions to the Office of the Commissioner of the Revenue over the years, and she has been an active participant in improvements in county government, including the implementation of its first tax mapping system and the creation of the Real Estate Assessor's Office; and
WHEREAS, Lucy Clark is a member and supporter of many professional and civic organizations, including the Virginia Association of Assessing Officers, the Commissioner of the Revenue Association of Virginia, and the Dyers Store Ruritan Club; she is an annual participant in the local Muscular Dystrophy Association Lock-Up Fund Raiser; and
WHEREAS, Lucy Clark is a faithful member of the Chatham Heights Christian Church, where she is a pianist for Sunday services and active in the church's many missions in the community; and
WHEREAS, Lucy Clark and her devoted husband of over 55 years, Clifton Clark, are looking forward to more leisure time to enjoy their family, especially their five grandchildren and four great-grandsons, as well as hobbies, camping, and traveling; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED by the House of Delegates, the Senate concurring, That the General Assembly commend and congratulate Lucy Clark for her longtime public service to the citizens of Henry County; and, be it
RESOLVED FURTHER, That the Clerk of the House of Delegates prepare a copy of this resolution for presentation to Lucy Clark as an expression of the General Assembly's gratitude for her many accomplishments and best wishes for a happy and fulfilling retirement.
