HJ938: Commending Richard M. Wydner, Jr.
WHEREAS, Richard M. Wydner, Jr., is recognized for his many years of outstanding service to the Town of Amherst; and
WHEREAS, an Amherst native, Richard M. Wydner, Jr., has served as an exemplary member of the Town Council of Amherst from February 20, 2003, through June 30, 2006; and
WHEREAS, while an employee of Lynchburg Foundry, Richard Wydner served as an advisor to the Junior Achievement Program; and
WHEREAS, Richard Wydner is a dedicated member of the Virginia Baptist Disaster Relief Team, and he traveled to New York after 9/11 and to Louisiana and Mississippi after Hurricane Katrina to do everything he could to help his fellow citizens; and
WHEREAS, Richard Wydner is an active member of Gideons International and has served as a trustee of the Amherst Cemetery Association for 25 years and as a member of the Amherst Volunteer Fire Department for the same length of time; and
WHEREAS, committed to improving the quality of life of his neighbors, Richard Wydner was elected to the Town Council of Amherst, serving from February 20, 2003, through June 30, 2006; and
WHEREAS, Richard Wydner, Jr., continues to serve the Town of Amherst as a member of the Amherst Industrial Development Authority and the Amherst Planning Commission; and
WHEREAS, Richard Wydner is a faithful member of the Amherst Baptist Church, where he has served as Sunday School Superintendent, deacon, and in other church leadership positions and is active in the church's many missions in the community; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED by the House of Delegates, the Senate concurring, That the General Assembly hereby commend and congratulate Richard M. Wydner, Jr., for his outstanding service to the citizens of the Town of Amherst; and, be it
RESOLVED FURTHER, That the Clerk of the House of Delegates prepare a copy of this resolution for presentation to Richard M. Wydner, Jr., as an expression of the General Assembly’s gratitude for his achievements and numerous contributions to the Town of Amherst and best wishes for continued success in the future.
