WHEREAS, Donald P. Nodtvedt, Jr. will retire in 2007 as plant manager at Nestle USA's manufacturing facility in Danville; and

WHEREAS, a Colorado native, Donald Nodtvedt graduated from the University of Colorado in 1974 with a bachelor's degree in biology, and a year later he began his career as a management trainee with the Carnation Company; and

WHEREAS, due to his talent and hard work, Donald Nodtvedt progressed in the organization, working in a number of positions at five different Midwest locations, and finally being named plant manager for Libby's Pumpkin operation, a division of Carnation; and

WHEREAS, in 1985, Carnation Company was acquired by Nestle and in 1994, Donald Nodtvedt moved to Danville to take over as plant manager for the Nestle Brands Company Confections & Snacks Division facility there; and

WHEREAS, during Donald Nodtvedt's tenure as plant manager in Danville, the facility has gone through two expansions and now employs over 500 people; and

WHEREAS, ever since he arrived in Danville, Donald Nodtvedt has been a dedicated member of the community, involving himself in the Rotary Club, Boy Scouts, and the Danville Symphony Orchestra, where he plays trombone; and

WHEREAS, Donald Nodtvedt has served on the board of Emmaus Ministry, United Way, the Harvest Jubilee Festival, the Chamber of Commerce, and Healthier Piedmont People and as president of the Dan River Region Industrial Roundtable; now, therefore, be it

RESOLVED by the House of Delegates, the Senate concurring, That the General Assembly hereby commend Donald P. Nodtvedt, Jr. on his many years of leadership and service to the community of Danville; and, be it

RESOLVED FURTHER, That the Clerk of the House of Delegates prepare a copy of this resolution for presentation to Donald P. Nodtvedt, Jr. as an expression of the General Assembly's best wishes for a rewarding retirement.
