WHEREAS, founded in 1997, Alexandria Neighborhood Health Services, Inc., is a nonprofit organization that manages the Arlandria Health Center for Women and Children; and

WHEREAS, the mission of the Alexandria Neighborhood Health Services, Inc., is to ensure access to affordable health and human services for low-income and uninsured families in Alexandria and surrounding communities through its Arlandria Health Center for Women and Children; and

WHEREAS, an invaluable provider of quality health care in Northern Virginia, the Arlandria Health Center has been responsible for more than 101,744 patient visits since 1993; and

WHEREAS, the Arlandria Health Center’s target population is over 9,800 low-income Hispanic and African Americans in Alexandria and the surrounding area; and

WHEREAS, the Arlandria Health Center’s patients are from 32 different countries of origin; 93 percent of adult patients and 43 percent of children are uninsured; and patients are at 57 percent below the federal poverty level; and

WHEREAS, the Arlandria Health Center offers a wide range of services, including adult medicine, pediatric wellness and illness care, women’s health, mental health, and dental health, as well as eligibility counseling, outreach services, and pharmaceutical access; and all health services are provided by a highly qualified and dedicated staff; and

WHEREAS, the Alexandria Neighborhood Health Services, Inc., partners with many organizations and agencies in Northern Virginia and the Commonwealth to enhance its capacity to better serve the community; now, therefore, be it

RESOLVED by the House of Delegates, the Senate concurring, That the General Assembly hereby commend and congratulate the Alexandria Neighborhood Health Services, Inc., on the occasion of its 10th anniversary of outstanding service to citizens in need; and, be it

RESOLVED FURTHER, That the Clerk of the House of Delegates prepare a copy of this resolution for presentation to the Alexandria Neighborhood Health Services, Inc., as an expression of the General Assembly’s appreciation of the nonprofit's dedication to the Alexandria community and best wishes for continued success in the future.
