WHEREAS, Leroy Wheeler retired from the Buena Vista School Board, completing his term of service as a member of the board on June 30, 2006; and

WHEREAS, Leroy Wheeler was elected by the citizens of Buena Vista to a term on the Buena Vista City School Board, which began on July 1, 2002; and

WHEREAS, a dedicated board member, Leroy Wheeler served on the Finance Committee of the Buena Vista City School Board; and

WHEREAS, an active and enthusiastic member of the Buena Vista City School Board, Leroy Wheeler attended meetings and public events, communicating with parents, faculty, administrators, and staff to hear their concerns and ensure that adequate consideration was given to the issues that impact Buena Vista City Public Schools; and

WHEREAS, Leroy Wheeler gave unselfishly of his time and talents to further enhance the educational opportunities for all of the students in Buena Vista; now, therefore, be it

RESOLVED by the House of Delegates, the Senate concurring, That the General Assembly commend Leroy Wheeler, a hard working member of the Buena Vista School Board, for his commitment to the students, parents, alumni, faculty, and staff of Buena Vista City Public Schools; and, be it

RESOLVED FURTHER, That the Clerk of the House of Delegates prepare a copy of this resolution for presentation to Leroy Wheeler as an expression of the General Assembly’s appreciation for his dedication and service to Buena Vista City Public Schools, along with best wishes for his enjoyment of his well-deserved retirement from the Board.
