WHEREAS, Robert J. Traister, Sr., is a dedicated and enthusiastic leader in the community of Front Royal; and

WHEREAS, Robert Traister graduated from Warren County High School in 1966, attended the Shenandoah Conservatory of Music, and in 1970, he graduated from the Capitol Radio Engineering Institute, now Capitol College in Maryland; and

WHEREAS, Robert Traister spent his entire career in radio at WFTR 1450 AM in Front Royal, starting out as an on-air personality in the early 1970s and finishing up his long and successful tenure there in 2006 as chief engineer; and

WHEREAS, a prolific author, Robert Traister has written more than 50 books on electronics, computers, and computer programming, many of which have been translated into other languages, and he has also written several software programs; and

WHEREAS, in 2000, Robert Traister developed an interest in scuba diving, and within a few years, he became a master diver and helped co-found Royal Divers, Inc., where he was a diving instructor from 2003 to 2006; and

WHEREAS, a former chairman of the Warren County Republican Party, Robert Traister has been very engaged in local and state-level campaigns, acting as a political consultant and campaign manager for a number of candidates in the 1990s and into the 21st century; and

WHEREAS, not only an advisor to others, Robert Traister has been a public servant himself, serving on the Front Royal Town Council and as Front Royal's mayor; and

WHEREAS, deeply committed to helping others, Robert Traister has been actively involved in a number of community organizations, including the American Cancer Society, the Juvenile Diabetes Foundation, the Izaak Walton League of America, and the Front Royal Rotary Club; and

WHEREAS, while president of the local chapter of the American Cancer Society, Robert Traister spearheaded some of its most successful fundraising efforts, including the first telethon in the history of Front Royal; and

WHEREAS, Robert Traister has been an enormous asset to his community, devoting his time, energy, and expertise to many different organizations and causes and serving as a role model for others who aspire to be effective leaders and make a difference in their communities; now, therefore, be it

RESOLVED by the House of Delegates, That Robert J. Traister, Sr., be hereby commended for his many years of outstanding service to the citizens of Front Royal; and, be it

RESOLVED FURTHER, That the Clerk of the House of Delegates prepare a copy of this resolution for presentation to Robert J. Traister, Sr., as an expression of the House of Delegates' appreciation for his many contributions to the well-being and success of his community.
