SJ474: Commending Cynthia L. Oman.

WHEREAS, Cynthia L. Oman was named 2006 Woman of the Year by the Women's Division of the Hampton Roads Chamber of Commerce, Chesapeake Division; and
WHEREAS, an enthusiastic business leader in Chesapeake, Cynthia Oman is co-owner and corporate secretary of Oman Funeral Home, Inc., a family-run business dedicated to serving the needs of families with dignity, integrity, and compassion; and
WHEREAS, committed to encouraging the growth of and fostering ties among local businesses, Cynthia Oman has been a steadfast member of the Hampton Roads Chamber of Commerce, Chesapeake Division, devoting a great deal of time and boundless energy to support the Chamber's many programs and events; and
WHEREAS, Cynthia Oman has served in a number of leadership roles on the board of directors of the Women's Division, including assistant treasurer, corresponding secretary, second vice president, first vice president, and president; and
WHEREAS, equally concerned for the community of Great Bridge, where she is a resident, Cynthia Oman has contributed enormously to the Great Bridge Woman's Club, serving on the organization's board of directors and participating in events and activities such as Paint Your Heart Out and Festival of Trees and in organizations such as Chesapeake Care, a free clinic; and
WHEREAS, finding fulfillment in serving others, Cynthia Oman is a member of Great Bridge Baptist Church and is active in the church's many missions in the community; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED by the Senate, the House of Delegates concurring, That the General Assembly hereby commend Cynthia L. Oman on being named 2006 Woman of the Year by the Women's Division of the Hampton Roads Chamber of Commerce, Chesapeake Division; and, be it
RESOLVED FURTHER, That the Clerk of the Senate prepare a copy of this resolution for presentation to Cynthia L. Oman as an expression of the General Assembly's gratitude for her exemplary leadership and contributions to Chesapeake and the surrounding area.
