A BILL to amend the Code of Virginia by adding in Article 15 of Chapter 1 of Title 33.1 a section numbered 33.1-223.2:18, relating to prioritization of bridge and safety funding by the  Commonwealth Transportation Board.

Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Virginia:

1. That the Code of Virginia is amended by adding in Article 15 of Chapter 1 of Title 33.1 a section numbered 33.1-223.2:18 as follows:

§ 33.1-223.2:18.  Board to prioritize bridge and safety funding for replacement of certain bridges.

The Commonwealth Transportation Board shall make the replacement and/or repair of bridges in the Commonwealth that are of the same or substantially similar design to the Interstate Route 35W bridge over the Mississippi River in Minneapolis, Minnesota, that collapsed on August 1, 2007, the highest priority for all available bridge and safety funding.
