I fully support this bill. This is a great way to recognize so many men and women who have proudly served this country as Chief Petty Officers.
I support this bill wholeheartedly, and applaude those who worked so hard to make it happen. The US Navy has a long and close history with Virginia, and CPO's ARE the Navy.
This is a wonderful bill. Anyone who has any familiarity with the US Navy knows that the Chiefs run the Navy.
Great Idea!
Chiefs are the backbone of our Navy and Virginia is home to thousands of Navy Chiefs.
Thank You!
Curt
Please allow this bill to move forward! Virginia is home to the largest Naval base in the world and is home to thousands of Chiefs and retired Chiefs. Once the license plate is on the wall at the DMV, I believe that support will be overwhelming.
Navy Chief, Navy Pride!
Awesome. This bill has my full support. Virginia is the place many of the Chiefs retire. There are thousands of Active duty, Reserve and Retired Chief Petty Officers living in the commonwealth. All of them full of Chief's Pride.
I couldn't support this bill more. There are few if any groups in the military that carry the prestige and honor as the US Navy Chief Petty Officers. "Ask the Chief" is a household word in any Navy community. To be blunt, in a state that has a license plate for just about everything, it's disappointing that this plate doesn't already exist. I think this bill's passage should proceed with all deliberate dispatch!

The NAVY CHIEF is the glue that hold the machine together. Of note ALL of the major postions of authority in our military have CHIEF as a preface. (Commander and Chief, Chief of Staff, Joint Chiefs) I humbly request you consider passing this bill. As has already been stated, once it is made available, there WILL be a huge demand for them.

This bill should have been passed years ago. Everyone should know that, advancement into the Chief Petty Officer grades is the most significant promotion within the enlisted naval ranks. As for the need for 350 prepaid registration rqst. Most Chiefs are not going to spend money on something that may or MAY NOT be approved. Most Chief's with the US Navy are at sea defending our right to freedom and have other more important things to worry about. Ratification of this bill will show them that we support them in their endeavors.

I'm afraid there's no getting around that. The DMV wants evidence of sufficient demand before going to the enormous expense of creating a new type of license plate.
Re the 350 prepaid registrations.... "Most Chiefs are not going to spend money on something that may or MAY NOT be approved."
I hope that's not the case. The first time I was contacted about this, way back in 2000 when I was still on active duty, I wrote a check for the registration fee on faith. I still have that faith.
For crying out loud... you can get a Texas A&M plate, a Steam Locomotive plate, or a Parrot Head plate in Virginia.

I just learned that this bill has died in committe. Considering all of the more or less superfluous license plates that exist in our commonwealth, it is an insult that this bill, representing the Navy Chief Petty Officers was lost in a committee. It's just another fine example of how the state has let down its servicemen and women.
