HB276: Temporary Assistance for Needy Families (TANF); noncash benefits.
Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Virginia:
1. That § 63.2-505.1 of the Code of Virginia is amended and reenacted as follows:
§ 63.2-505.1. Transitional food stamp benefits.
To the extent permitted by federal law, the Department shall
provide transitional food stamp benefits and Temporary Assistance for Needy Families (TANF) benefits
other than cash benefits for a period of not more than five months
after the date on which Temporary Assistance for Needy Families (TANF)TANF
cash assistance is terminated. However, no household shall be eligible for
transitional food stamp benefits if TANF cash assistance was terminated because
all children in the assistance unit were removed from the home as a result of a
child protective services investigation.
