Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Virginia:

1.  That the Code of Virginia is amended by adding in Article 2 of Chapter 17 of Title 15.2 a section numbered 15.2-1730.2 as follows:

§ 15.2-1730.2. Certain sheriffs to enter into memoranda of agreement; federal immigration.

The sheriff of any county with a population greater than 300,000 shall enter into a memorandum of agreement with the United States Department of Homeland Security, Immigration and Customs Enforcement, to permit designated law-enforcement officers in the county to perform certain federal immigration law functions in the Commonwealth of Virginia.
