HB367: Sanctuary cities; prohibits localities from adopting policy that protects undocumented immigrants.
Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Virginia:
1. That the Code of Virginia is amended by adding in Article 1 of Chapter 14 of Title 15.2 a section numbered 15.2-1414.01 as follows:
§ 15.2-1414.01. Sanctuary cities prohibited.
No governing body shall adopt a policy, and no locality shall follow a policy, whether explicitly or implicitly, that serves to protect undocumented immigrants from deportation. Furthermore, no locality shall prohibit its employees from asking a person about his immigration status.
