HJ138: Celebrating the life of Mary Coyle.
WHEREAS, Mary Coyle of Sully Station, a respected citizen and longtime Centreville resident and dedicated community leader, died on November 7, 2007; and
WHEREAS, Mary Coyle grew up in Olean, New York, moved to Virginia in the early 1960s, and worked a few years for the CIA until her family moved to Centreville in 1972 to the Meadows of Newgate; and
WHEREAS, Mary Coyle was employed as a life insurance agent with Johnson and Strachan in Fairfax until her retirement after 35 years on August 31, 2007; and
WHEREAS, Mary Coyle moved to Sully Station several years ago and immediately became an active member of the West Fairfax County Citizens Association (WFCCA) and its Land-Use Committee, serving nearly 20 years as an invaluable advocate for her fellow residents, as well as the association treasurer and a member of the executive committee; and
WHEREAS, when Mary Coyle joined the WFCCA, Sully District did not exist, and over the years, she witnessed tremendous change and was committed to making the community a safe and pleasant place to live; and
WHEREAS, an outstanding leader for the Centreville community and the WFCCA, Mary Coyle gave generously of her time and immense talents and worked diligently to improve the quality of life of all of her fellow citizens; and
WHEREAS, an amazing and talented woman, Mary Coyle worked full-time and was a single mother, raising four children by herself, attending her children's sporting events and school activities, managing a busy household, and nurturing her wonderful family; and
WHEREAS, Mary Coyle was a faithful member of the Saint Timothy Catholic Church in Chantilly and was active in the church's many missions in the community; and
WHEREAS, Mary Coyle will be fondly remembered as a warm, caring, and intelligent person and greatly missed by her sons Michael, Stephen, and Patrick and daughter Michele and their families, including four grandchildren; her sisters Linda Thompson, Jean Geffen, Christine Eldridge, and Michele Balonek and brother David Dumuhosky; and her numerous other friends and admirers; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED by the House of Delegates, the Senate concurring, That the General Assembly note with great sadness the passing of a fine community leader and outstanding Virginian, Mary Coyle; and, be it
RESOLVED FURTHER, That the Clerk of the House of Delegates prepare a copy of this resolution for presentation to the family of Mary Coyle as an expression of the General Assembly’s respect for her memory.
