HOUSE JOINT RESOLUTION NO. 204 Offered January 10, 2008 Commending the Hanover High School wrestling team. ---------- Patron-- Hargrove ----------

WHEREAS, the 2007 Hanover High School wrestling team captured the Virginia High School League Group AAA Central Region championship on February 17, 2007; and

WHEREAS, the exciting win over defending champion James River High School was the Hanover High School Hawks’ second Central Region team championship in four years; and

WHEREAS, Jordan Peck, Kirk Rohle, Josh Seal, Ben Wilson, Dallas Brummel, and Spencer Alexander were winners in exciting quarterfinals matches, and the Hawks sent eight wrestlers in all to the semifinals, seven of whom advanced by pinning their opponents; and

WHEREAS, in a surprising semifinal match upset, the Hawks’ Patrick Foxworth, at 112 pounds, defeated James River’s defending champion and top-seeded wrestler in his class; and

WHEREAS, both schools qualified four wrestlers for the final round and the crucial match was the Hawks’ Charles Robinson, at 160 pounds, defeating one of Patrick Henry High School’s best wrestlers in only 53 seconds; and

WHEREAS, all of the Hanover High School Hawks wrestlers gave it their all in the regular and postseason, contributing to an outstanding championship record in 2006-2007; and

WHEREAS, the triumphant performance of the Hawks wrestling team is a tribute to the talent, dedication, and perseverance of the wrestlers; the leadership of Head Coach Aaron Bradley and Assistant Coach Charles League and their staff; and the support of the parents, students, and faculty of Hanover High School; now, therefore, be it

RESOLVED by the House of Delegates, the Senate concurring, That the General Assembly hereby commend and congratulate the Hawks wrestling team from Hanover High School on their Group AAA Central Region title; and, be it

RESOLVED FURTHER, That the Clerk of the House of Delegates prepare a copy of this resolution for presentation to Head Coach Aaron Bradley as an expression of the General Assembly's admiration for the championship performance of the 2007 Hanover High School wrestling team.
