HJ209: Celebrating the life of Edwin Green Penn IV.
WHEREAS, Edwin Green Penn IV, aged 25, a vibrant and beloved young man and a graduate of Martinsville High School’s Class of 2000, died on November 11, 2007; and
WHEREAS, a Martinsville native, Edwin Penn was born on January 15, 1982, the son of Edwin G. “Trippi” Penn III and Alice McClung Penn; and
WHEREAS, during his youth, Edwin Penn loved scouting, and he attained the highest rank in the Boy Scouts of America, Eagle Scout, as a dedicated member of Troop No. 63 of the First United Methodist Church in Martinsville; and
WHEREAS, Edwin Penn was employed at Burr Fox Specialized Woodworking for the past seven years, and he also worked in the family business of Lester-Penn Coal and Oil; and
WHEREAS, Edwin Penn was the devoted brother of Margaret Bowe Penn of Durham, North Carolina; Laura Murray Penn of Knoxville, Tennessee; and J. Michael Penn of Harrisonburg; and
WHEREAS, Edwin Penn will be fondly remembered and greatly missed by his loving parents, sisters, and brother; his numerous other relatives; and his wonderful friends and admirers; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED by the House of Delegates, the Senate concurring, That the General Assembly mourn the passing of a promising young man and outstanding Virginian, Edwin Green Penn IV; and, be it
RESOLVED FURTHER, That the Clerk of the House of Delegates prepare a copy of this resolution for presentation to the family of Edwin Green Penn IV as an expression of the General Assembly’s respect for his memory.
