WHEREAS, the Deep Run High School Key Club is the recipient of the 2007 Youth Group of the Year award by the Central Virginia Foodbank; and

WHEREAS, the mission of the Central Virginia Foodbank is to identify food sources and distribute food to the hungry in Central Virginia; and

WHEREAS, the members of Deep Run High School Key Club volunteered 500 hours at the Central Virginia Foodbank in 2007 by sorting donations, replenishing supplies, filling orders, and cleaning the facility; and

WHEREAS, the high school is a part of Henrico County Public Schools and the Deep Run High School Key Club boasts 500 outstanding members, the largest Key Club in the Capital District, which includes Virginia, Maryland, Delaware, and Washington, D.C.; and

WHEREAS, each month, the Deep Run High School Key Club partners with the Tuckahoe Kiwanis Club to work at the Foodbank; and

WHEREAS, Deep Run High School Key Club members volunteer one Saturday a month to help out at the Foodbank doing whatever needs to done to aid their fellow citizens in need; and

WHEREAS, the Deep Run High School Key Club members volunteer for other worthwhile community activities, but working at the Central Virginia Foodbank is by far their favorite project because they love to be busy and feel like they have made a huge difference in the lives of others; now, therefore, be it

RESOLVED by the House of Delegates, the Senate concurring, That the General Assembly commend and congratulate Deep Run High School Key Club on its community spirit and its well-deserved honor as 2007 Youth Group of the Year; and, be it

RESOLVED FURTHER, That the Clerk of the House of Delegates prepare a copy of this resolution for presentation to the club's advisor, June Windmuller, as an expression of the General Assembly’s gratitude to the Deep Run High School Key Club for their selfless volunteer efforts and their commitment to helping their neighbors in need in Henrico County.
