HOUSE JOINT RESOLUTION NO. 250 Offered January 18, 2008 Celebrating the life of Frank Randall Marrs. ----------

WHEREAS, Frank Randall Marrs of Midlothian, a respected citizen and admired community leader, died on May 2, 2007; and

WHEREAS, Frank Randall "Randy" Marrs was born in Canebrake, West Virginia, to Rufus and Lettie Marrs, grew up and went to school in McDowell County, and graduated from what is now Marshall University in Huntington, West Virginia, where he became a member of Sigma Phi Epsilon; and

WHEREAS, Randall Marrs worked in newspaper advertising in Huntington and Evansville, Indiana, before moving to Richmond in 1967 to become national director of alumni affairs with Sigma Phi Epsilon; and

WHEREAS, Randall Marrs had several salutary career changes, and he ultimately retired as the senior vice president of marketing with what was at the time Signet Bank; and

WHEREAS, a dedicated leader in his community, Randall Marrs was always willing to lend a helping hand to his fellow citizens in need and he was a great supporter of activities and events in the City of Richmond; and

WHEREAS, Randall Marrs’ greatest joy was his family, and he was a loving husband, father, and grandfather; and

WHEREAS, Randall Marrs was a faithful member of Bon Air Baptist Church for 31 years, where he was a deacon and choir member, served on numerous committees, and actively participated in the church's many missions in the community; and

WHEREAS, Randall Marrs will be fondly remembered for his kind and generous nature and greatly missed by his devoted wife, Carolyn Hudson Marrs; his sons Gregory, Bradley, and William Randall Marrs and daughters Deborah Lynn Brown, Leslie Ann Marrs, and Diane Marrs Stewart and their wonderful families; his many other loving family members and friends; and the congregation of Bon Air Baptist Church; now, therefore, be it

RESOLVED by the House of Delegates, the Senate concurring, That the General Assembly note with great sadness the passing of an outstanding Virginian, Frank Randall Marrs; and, be it

RESOLVED FURTHER, That the Clerk of the House of Delegates prepare a copy of this resolution for presentation to the family of Frank Randall Marrs as an expression of the General Assembly’s respect for his memory.
