WHEREAS, Ann Levy Yohalem Weinstein of Roanoke, a talented artist and a champion of the arts and artists throughout the Commonwealth, died on March 3, 2007; and

WHEREAS, Ann Weinstein was born in New York City, New York; she was the beloved daughter of the late Mae Levy Yohalem and William Levy and the stepdaughter of the late Al Yohalem; and

WHEREAS, Ann Weinstein attended what is now Hollins University and became an exceptional sculptor, working in her preferred medium of welding; and

WHEREAS, at every opportunity, Ann Weinstein served her beloved community of Roanoke as a great supporter of the arts; and

WHEREAS, Ann Weinstein traveled all over the world to study and review art, and she admired and greatly appreciated the extraordinary art and the gifted artists of Roanoke and Salem and the entire Commonwealth; and

WHEREAS, for many years, Ann Weinstein wrote many wonderful articles regarding all aspects of the arts for local, regional, and national publications; and

WHEREAS, Ann Weinstein will be fondly remembered for her many talents and accomplishments and greatly missed by her devoted husband of sixty years, Sidney A. Weinstein; her two daughters Susan Aaron Weinstein and Naomi Ellen Klass and her son-in-law, David, and her two wonderful granddaughters; and countless other loving family members and friends; now, therefore, be it

RESOLVED by the House of Delegates, the Senate concurring, That the General Assembly mourn the passing of an outstanding citizen and friend of the arts in Virginia, Ann Levy Yohalem Weinstein; and, be it

RESOLVED FURTHER, That the Clerk of the House of Delegates prepare a copy of this resolution for presentation to the family of Ann Levy Yohalem Weinstein as an expression of the General Assembly’s respect for her memory.
